Purpose
Special Note--Feb. 2010
Due to the Oct. 8, 2009 tragedy
that occured in a sweat lodge in Sedona, Arizona which was lead by a
non-native individual, I have decided to discontinue offering sweat
lodges (earth saunas).
I have a deep understanding that
I must re-evaluate my own personal vision which occured in 1987 in light
of this event.
I will continue to offer sacred
gatherings and vision quests.
Click on the "Earth Sauna"
or "Calendar" button to learn more about Sacred Gatherings.
The purpose of Mother Earth Adventures is of offer two technologies
of the sacred; the vision quest and earth sauna. It is hoped that these
ceremonies of experiential spirituality will assist participants in
moving deeper into their own spiritual path.
These events are offered within the context of a sacred community of
fellow seekers who take their spiritual path seriously. A safe and open
atmosphere of kindness and compassion is created so that the sharing
of insights and personal stories can occur as we risk sharing at a deeper
level than normal. It is only through this deepening that new ways of
being can begin to be incorporated into our life journeys and ultimately
impact the greater community.
Occasionally other types of events will also be offered such as silent
retreats, vision quest personal support retreats, canoe journeys, etc.
Mother Earth
Adventures hopes to honor and demonstrate respect for indigenous peoples
and their ways of being in all that we do.
The ceremonies offered through Mother
Earth Adventures are not traditional Native American ceremonies but
are based upon the facilitators own understandings revealed through
their personal work in sweat lodge ceremonies, vision quests, wilderness
journeys, readings, and other "soul" work. We offer our understandings
of these ceremonies in the belief that they may enable you to connect
to your concept of "Self" and the "Mystery" in a
deeper and more tangible way. Through this deeper knowing and connection
you can go forth into the world with more understanding of who you are
and what your "Work" really is.
Although heavily influenced by our participation in traditional ceremonies,
the Unitarian-Universalist religion of which we are members strongly
influences these ceremonies. Specifically the Unitarian-Universalist
covenant to affirm and promote:
"The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equality, and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
And the respect for the interdependent web of existence of which we
are a part."
People from all races, religions, sexual orientations, genders, age,
and cultures are invited to participate. The diversity of participants
helps to create part of the "power" of the ceremony.
Participants high school age and older are invited to attend.
